3 Reasons Businesses Should Give Back To Their Community

It’s that time of year again, New Year’s Resolution Season!

Each year as the holidays wind down, we begin thinking about the upcoming year and how we can improve ourselves. People may tend to approach their New Year resolutions differently, but I always try to include some charitable aspects to my resolutions. At Organik SEO, giving back and being involved with our community is a major part of our company culture. Each quarter we choose a company wide project (or projects) to be involved with around our local community. These can vary by the cause and the organizations involved, but we love helping to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

#1 – Giving Back Benefits Your Community

Charitable efforts aim to help others, and improve the quality of their lives. Giving back to your community can be impactful in a variety of ways, one being the value of time and money saved on resources. Non-profit organizations usually operate with a tight budget, and when you donate or volunteer your time to a cause, it frees up their funds for other efforts. There are so many different causes out there to be involved in, so focus on how you want to help your community. If you have a soft spot in your heart for kids, do a little preliminary research on local causes dedicated to improving the lives of children near you. You’ll find plenty of causes, so narrow them down by finding something you and your team are passionate about.

#2 – Community Efforts Cultivate Team Camaraderie

Working towards a common goal can unite people from different backgrounds, and improve how your team collaborates together. It also never hurts to take a break from the routine and spend some of your time doing something you’re passionate about, so encourage your team to present their ideas about how you can spend your charitable time. By removing people from their traditional role within the office, you can learn more about your teammates, and even find some common interests you didn’t know you shared.

#3 – Charity Improves Morale

Giving back is beneficial for the recipients, of course, but it’s also good for those doing the giving! Apart from improving personal growth and self-esteem, volunteering your time and effort can help to strengthen the bonds among your team. When people do good, they feel good about themselves and those they have partnered with. Health benefits have also been linked to charitable causes, such as improved moods and a stronger immune system. Feeling better leads to doing better in multiple areas of your life, so don’t hesitate to spend some time giving back.
