Once again, we are shining the spotlight on a really cool company in our “Companies That Care” segment. This month, we are featuring Chef Celebration, a local company that is investing in the culinary future of San Diego!
Chef Celebration is a series of events throughout the year. More than 50 award-winning chefs from all over San Diego donate their time, energy and talent to Chef Celebration in order to raise money for a nonprofit culinary scholarship program. These one-of-a-kind events are an opportunity for these chefs to give back and for the guests to enjoy a rare dining experience in one location.
Every year, teams of these incredible chefs join forces to cook five-course dinners at fine restaurants all around San Diego. Chef Celebration wants to inspire and encourage young chefs and lay the foundation for “excellence for San Diego’s culinary future”. All the well-known chefs have started at the bottom and risen to the top with help and training for others. It is their turn to give back with Chef Celebration by passing on the tradition of learning and support to San Diego’s rising stars!
This cool local company has distributed more than $75,000 in scholarships over the last sixteen years. Among the chefs that have participated include Hanis Cavin of Kensington Grill, Josh McGinnis of L.A. Specialty & Produce and Denise Roa of Art Institute.
Last year, Chef Celebration hosted events such as the Beer Master Pairing at Stone Brewery World Bistro and Gardens, San Diego Beer Week Cap Off Event at Torrey Pines and a Dinner Series at Waypoint Public. This year, the celebration will start with a Dinner Series in the month of April. We can’t wait!
The 12 lucky winners of the Chef Celebration Scholarship come together in Napa for a week long intensive training course that aims to build camaraderie among San Diego’s future chefs. They learn from the best at the Culinary Institute of American’s Greystone Campus.
