Where to get Content for Your Google+ Pages

Google+ is a valuable social media platform that drives more engaged traffic for businesses than many of the other social media networks. Small business owners often wonder what content they should share on their Google+ page on a regular basis. Enhancing your Google+ pages for your business is simple if you know where to look for content. Your Google+ marketing strategy should feature original content as well as specific topics and content that is trending from other sites. You should always consider your customers’ interest when curating content so it is relevant and speaks directly to them. Sharing quality content with your Google+ audience is of the upmost importance since the average social media user spends more than 3 minutes checking out content that is shared by connections within their circles. They also visit 2.45 pages each time and bounce only 50.63 percent of the time. Below are some valuable resources for content to help you fill your Google+ pages with engaging information and boost your small business marketing strategy.

1) The Google+ Explore Tab

On your Google+ home dashboard lies a very important tab: The explore tab. This allows users to see what’s trending on Google+ currently. By analyzing hashtags that are trending, you can see if Google+ users are sharing content that might be relevant to your target audience. Your business can use relevant and trending hashtags in your posts. If you use content that is popular with Google+ users, there is a better chance the content will be shared. Check the Google+ Explore tab daily.


2) Follow the Leader

By following leaders that pertain to your industry on Google+, you can get valuable insights into what kind of content speaks to their audience. You can then repurpose this and use it for your own Google+ page. The content you pick should relate to your audience’s interests and be sure to follow influencers that have an engage audience.

3) Reddit

You can locate interesting and engaging content by searching the various Subreddits on Reddit. They contain trending news topics, commentary and funny submissions. You can use these on your Google+ page to speak to your audience. Reddit is a valuable source for finding interesting content on almost any subject related to your audience’s interests.

4) Feedly

Feedly (as an RSS feed) can help pull together news from different publications and blogs from across the web. Based on your interests, you can use Feedly to source content for your business’s Google+ page across devices. You can add the sources of content by going through categories of interest and also by adding the URLs of websites that will interest your audience. Add content sources to Feedly from different areas to discover relevant material pertaining to your audience’s varied interests.

5) Use SlideShare

SlideShare was originally meant for businesses to share their slides among employees but has since expanded to host entertaining slide shows, documents, PDFs, videos and webinars. Business leaders share thoughts and ideas on leadership, business, entrepreneurship and marketing, just to name a few. You can search for industry influencers’ content that they have shared on SlideShare and use quotes, stats, visuals and other insights found on SlideShare for your Google+ page. Remember to cite the sources you mention in your content. This will not only give them credit, but will possibly engage them to start a conversation that you audience will love reading.

6) Search by Image on Google

This is not to be confused with doing a Google image search, which is quite different. You can drag and drop an image into Google search and it will find relevant content related to that image. You can also upload an image and do the same thing. You can generate different results than you would normally get by just doing a text search. You can search images that you have created, from other’s content in different industries and trending content from around the web for your content on your Google+ page.

7) Quora

Quora is a social network that allows anyone to ask a question. Once the question is asked, it will ideally get sourced through the members platform and then answered by experts in different fields. You can highlight different conversation threads happening on Quora and put them on your Google+ page. This will hopefully motivate people to continue the conversation on your business page. This is a good tactic since Google+ is a community-driven and discussion-oriented social network. Quora also has blogs from contributing experts on a regular basis. This can also be a good source for relevant content for your own Google+ page.
