It’s Good to Be Green: Why Sustainable Businesses are More Appealing Than Ever

Sustainability is a popular topic in today’s world, and it’s becoming commonplace among businesses. More companies are choosing to go green, and we’re sure the environment couldn’t be happier about it. In addition to helping save the planet one tree at a time, sustainability has major advantages on the business side as well.

Sustainable businesses are finally getting the recognition they deserve, and more people are viewing them in a very positive light. Most consumers are educated on where their products come from, and they are choosing products and brands that have a purpose to connect with. Think companies like TOMS – for each pair of shoes purchased, they donate a pair of shoes to a child in need. It’s no surprise their brand quickly gained popularity, who wouldn’t want their purchase to also donate to a good cause?

As this consumer/social trend has grown, it’s also been noted that people will pay more for a product if it comes from a business dedicated to a positive cause (an environmentally friendly company, a company known for its community commitment, etc). Sustainability is also an important factor for those seeking employment, especially among millennials, and can make your business more competitive in the hiring market.

Our Green Commitment as a B Corp

Organik SEO is dedicated to sustainability, and we’re also a certified B-Corp! We agree that business can do well, while also doing some good. As a B Corp, we hold our company to rigorous standards of purpose, accountability, and transparency. We enjoy working with businesses who also work towards creating a positive impact and dedicate ourselves to improving our local community (we even adopted a beach!)

In an effort to consistently uphold our responsibilities, we organize community events such as recycling events, hold community collection drives, purchase sustainable office supplies, and work with local vendors.

While there’s much more that goes into being a sustainable business, you can start making small changes today! Below are some tips you can try:

  • Measure your carbon footprint
  • Install LED lighting
  • Monitor water usage (create a contest to get the team on board)
  • Install water filter systems (reduce water bottle usage)
  • Implement recycling programs (make sure your bins are marked clearly)
  • Purchase eco-friendly kitchen and bathroom supplies and cleaning products (World Centric is a fellow B Corp)
  • Purchase recycled paper and office products
  • Eliminate paper usage – go digital! (Google Drive and Dropbox are great for storing documents and sharing with others outside your organization)
