Suzie’s Farm is set on 140 acres of USDA-certified organic farm land, 13 miles south of downtown San Diego, where they grow over 100 varieties of seasonal veggies, herbs, fruits and flowers all throughout the year. Suzie’s Farm is as local as it gets and employs 85 people, some happy farm dogs and a fleet of 300 egg-laying hens.
In 2010, Suzie’s Farm began their CSA Program, which has since become the cornerstone of the company. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and relies on the support of the CSA “shareholders”. These “shareholders” who support Suzie’s Farm receive a box of freshly harvested produce items, especially grown for them. They also receive a weekly shareholder newsletter with farm news, two free tour passes for their Second Sunday Tour and access to special pricing for Suzie’s events. The best news is anyone can become a shareholder!
At Suzie’s Farm, they aren’t simply here to sell you something. They want you to become part of their “farm-ily”, get to know you and help you to get to know their food. Come visit the farm and learn how to recognize a cucumber plant from a squash plant! They also provide delicious recipes for every vegetable they grow.
